About

This domain was set up as a profile website in order to demonstrate the website design and development work I have produced.

I am a web designer and developer from Cumbria. I went to Northumbria University in 2006 and studied Internet Computing BSc. I obtained a 2:1 honours degree and from there I went into web development. I have several jobs in the North East and Cumbria. My most significant role was working for The Media Lounge, which are a design agency operating in Newcastle. I gained valuable experience here and I am now seeking to build on this and see what I can bring to a new role.

My aim is to produce high quality websites using: XHTML/CSS, Javascript, PHP/MySQL and ASP.net (C#/VB) for example. The software I use includes Adobe CS4 (Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Bridge) and Visual Studio 2008.

Skills

I continue to reskill as necessary in order to keep up to date in the industry. I have recently added search engine friendly urls and jquery to my skillset and continue to develop my .net ability. I have been studying .net (VB and C#) from books for many months now and I believe I am in a position to take on a junior role. I have been producing PHP/MySQL websites and CMSs for many years now and have a detailed knowledge in this regard. The clients I have worked with have always been happy with the quality and attention to detail in my work. Currently I am interested in junior .net positions, and also junior - middleweight PHP positions. I have also been applying to web designer opportunities so I open to a broad spectrum of roles.

What do I hope to gain?

I hope to work for another web design / development agency again in the near future. I hope I will gain some more web design experience and some ASP.net experience so that I can become a more senior in both of these areas. I'd like to work with more clients and develop job skills as well.
